Spring themes

“s”  is for seeds and sprouts.(we are doing letter sounds not names) We found an old clear container and planted a pumpkin seed. It worked so well! The kids loved each day looking at the difference I wish I had thought to take daily pictures because there were noticeable differences every day! We sang “once there was a little seed” probably 50 times in the few days before we had to transplant our little sprout. We also read jack and the bean stalk.

‘r’ is for rain

We also talked about the water cycle and sang a song “the sun warms up the ground” http://www.naturallyeducational.com/2011/04/rain-songs-and-poems-for-children/ And made cool water cycle posters with a part for each part of the song.  2013-04-26_11-47-31_5582013-04-26_11-47-37_398

The sun is marble painting: you put the paper and paint in a pan with a marble and roll the marble around.  Then we made the clouds. Emma and Tintin cut blue paper to fill the clouds fluffy and full of water. Then we glued some of the water coming out of the cloud for rain and if you make it big you’ll see glitter to be the evaporation. I know they are little but it was fun and we enjoyed singing the song doing the art and now they have been exposed to lots of new words and ideas!
