Thanksgiving unit day one!

DSCF7682

We talked about the pilgrims and why they left their homeland. Then we read a book about the whole story, the persecution  in England, living in Holland, the Seedwell disaster, the mayflower trip, looking for Plymouth, building a big cabin for everyone for the winter, learning to plant corn, learning to survive from their native friends, all the way to the three day feast of thanksgiving!

We made Native American head dresses. And danced to Native American drum music on YouTube. Teigen had to write about why Squanto was so important to the pilgrims. Emma was the “Indian Princess” and couldn’t resist kissing her brothers cheek.) DSCF7687DSCF7690DSCF7689

Here is our overview up until thanksgiving day. There are some really great websites especially the scholastic ones!
